Why this family is meaningfully agentic

These workflows are agentic when the system must interpret feedback, decide which adjustments are justified, and adapt without violating policy, quality, or risk constraints. Simple metrics dashboards do not qualify unless they feed governed adaptation behavior.

Future patterns should state what can change automatically, what requires approval, how drift is detected, and what bounds keep optimization from exploiting the wrong objective. Evaluation should consider improvement quality, stability, unintended side effects, and whether the workflow remains inspectable as it adapts.

This family can safely reach autonomous-with-audit when the live change is a reversible internal tuning artifact such as a bounded sampling or calibration policy, and it can also safely reach approval-gated-execution when one exact versioned optimization-state revision is released into bounded live use only after human approval, expiry control, and rollback preparation. Neither case should drift into case disposition, scheduling commands, or direct operational action.

Approval-gated optimize/adapt work should remain centered on one exact released tuning artifact with explicit validity, fallback, and lineage state rather than a vague permission to keep optimizing. Critical optimize/adapt work should remain centered on temporary optimization-state changes, protected-priority lane protection, or governed retuning packages. If the output starts naming who decides, sequencing the response, assigning specific reviewers, or triggering downstream operational action rather than bounded optimization-state release, it belongs in an adjacent family instead.
